SCHOOL VISIT TO RATA MARAE
We had a great day at the Rata Marae on Tuesday. 190 students plus around sixty friends and whanau joined us for the day, which started with a powhiri at 10am.
Students were split into sixteen groups and rotated around activities that included poi, rakau, making wooden taonga, mask making, fried bread, ki o rahi, flax work, waiata, rock painting, kowhaiwhai art, koru art, and tapestry.
A magnificent hangi lunch was put down by Mason Smith and the day concluded with a drama presentation of the creation story by Taihape Area School students under the direction of Mrs Barbara Thomasen.
The school wishes to acknowledge the work of parents Angela Duxfield, Vera Maraku and Sasha Maraku in the planning and provision of our marae experience.
