YOUNG LEADERS CONFERENCE ROTORUA
The next day after a great cooked breakfast at our hotel, we checked out and headed for The Rotorua Events Centre. We were lucky enough to get front row seats as part of a 2000 strong audience! Charlie Panapa from What Now was the MC and throughout the day we heard inspirational stories and speeches from people aimed at challeging us to be better leaders and to be the best that we can. Charlie Nimmo got to go up on stage after lunch when she was picked from the audience to help Jamie Fitzgerald show us how difficult it was to put on a windbreaker in the Arctic at 40 degrees below zero, in a howling wind!
He was one of the best speakers. They were all good and included Nick Tuatasi, Pat Buckley and Andrea Deely.
We received a treat at the end when Russell Harrison sang I Believe I Can Fly. Magnificent!
After the conference finished (around 2.30pm) it was back in our cars and back to Hunterville arriving home at about 6.30pm.
All the rest of our Year 8s travelled to Wellingtion for the day on 23 May for the Young Leaders Conference in the Michael Fowler Centre, where they were also inspired by many of the same speakers
